WWotD - 13 March 2012

I was thinking the other night about how sexist The Brady Bunch looks to us today. The one episode is remember is where Greg and Marcia ran for student body president. I remember the scene when Carol almost tells Marcia to step down... and I remember being pissed about it.

The scene starts off with this ominous exchange:

Marcia: How come you don't ever play golf anymore?
Carol: With six children, a husband, a house and a dog, you ask me 'how come?'?
Marcia: (grimaces) Sorry!

I remember thinking back in the day: so what if Marcia has two extra semesters and is younger? If Greg can't handle the heat, he should get outta the kitchen (and let Alice do the cooking, because she'll pull a girl's hair to win). Humph.

Today I watch it with a more forgiving eye.  Carol had three new stepchildren to mother, and she was trying to keep peace in the family. Although... pick up the damn golf clubs, Carol. You had a frigging housekeeper, and she rocked the whole city block (awwww, yeah).*

On a side note.... who the foo is "that creep Felix Brown"??? All we know is he's the kinda guy who takes easy girls up to the balcony at the movie theater. Sounds like the perfect guy for Marcia to have a little bit of afternoon delight with (to heck with Charlie or even Doug). And... is Rusty now working as a campaign strategist??? He had a promising future in mudslinging.

"Now if you just say that she's dating Ray J..."
* I tried to find a link to the great parody song "Rock Me Ann B Davis" (to the tune "Rock Me Amadeus"), but alas the vastness that is the Internet has failed to elicit any links :(''''''''

If you want to watch the Bunch episode, check out this link.
