1- Because people need to expand their vocabularies. Seriously, humanity's ability to communicate has gone to hell in a handbasket [and what is the etymology for that saying? Does it come from the myth of Persephone, and a basketful of pomegranates? I’m probably wrong, but it’s good apocrypha. And if you stumbled over "etymology" or "apocrypha", I’ve proven my point].
2- Because I am tweaked. Do I have a profound way of looking at things? Nut-uh. I do, however, have a profoundly tweaked way of looking at things. If I want profound, I watch late night TV in the hope that I catch a Charo episode of The Love Boat. Hopefully before they starved Lauren Tewes and made women want to look like fourteen year-old boys. But when I wake up in the morning, I just want something amusing enough to capture my attention without actually making me think.
3- Because life is too scary without humor. There are too many people squeezed on this planet, scared of everyone and everything and plunging into hopelessness. The one infinitesimal glimmer of hope, the one defense against giving in to the despair, is the ability to laugh at fear. It’s why Friends still haunts TV, why Dilbert hangs in our cubicles, and it’s also why someone actually filmed Showgirls.
4- Because it can eventually become a great game. WWotD Bingo… it's in the works. Stay tuned!!!
